Meeraboo started in 2014 as a home-based business, selling candles made in recycled jars to our friends and family. Recycled jars came from far and wide to be filled with Meeraboo goodness, with the iconic vegemite jar making the odd appearance. Our first big gig - the Canowindra Shopping Night in our home town.
We quickly came to the realisation that we had created something special. People loved our fragrance combinations, and the long-lasting effects of both the scent and burn time. Enter the mason jar and overall Meeraboo brand. Everything was hand-made, from the candle right down to the "many a late night and multiple swear words" provoking swing tag.
We started off small, stocking in local Canowindra stores which then grew to include Orange. Getting our first big order from Mary and Tex in Orange was a thrill, we were so excited to be sharing the Meeraboo goodness with even more people.
Since then, we have grown to include over 30 stockists across Australia - and we're not finished.
In 2016, we decided it was time to step up our packaging. We conducted thorough market research, travelling around to all our stockists to ensure we were delivering something with both product and merchandising appeal. Then the fun began, hunting down the perfect jar that ticked all the boxes.
And then in July 2016 we launched our beautiful glass jars with brushed copper lid. *Hallelujah * no more swing tags!!
We have so many more exciting things planned for Meeraboo, and we're so excited to have our following of #meerobsessed along for the ride.
Who are the Meeraboo team?
Meeraboo is lovingly family operated. Every member of our family plays a part in the business, and we would not be where we are today without them.
Meeraboo is run by mother and daughter(s) team, Deb, Jess and Danni, with the occassional hand given by father, David, and brothers Tom, Charley and James.
Danni runs the operational side of the business including finance, ordering, social media, packaging, business development etc etc.
What about the name?
Our little brother (Charley) coined the term MEERABOO (half meerkat, half rabbit, half kangaroo) due to our rabbit's unique personalities and posture. Isn't he clever?
Thank you for joining the #meerobsession
Meet the Maker
Deb (mum) is our candle-maker, and has found her calling. Whilst working full time elsewhere, mum has been known to make candles at the wee hours of the morning before heading off to milk cows. She has now perfected our craft, and Meeraboo is lucky to have this ever-ready bunny on board.
